At Matthew Gove and Co., we create thoughtful, site-specific gardens that combine beautiful, atmospheric plantings with a commitment to enhancing biodiversity.

Who we are

We design client-focused, engaging outdoor spaces that transform into lasting, ecologically-minded landscapes.

Over the last 15 years, we’ve had the opportunity to design and build large-scale plantings on rural estates, commercial gardens, and intimate urban spaces. Our gardens are unique, personal, and captivating.

Naturalistic, purposeful plantings are designed to highlight the inspiring features of each property. We carefully select plant groupings that interact naturally with their surroundings, incorporating native and ecologically compatible species. Each plant is chosen for its artistic qualities and seasonal interest, placed in drifts and layers, forming cohesive masses and subtle transitions, to create a peaceful, natural atmosphere in the garden. The result is a design that harmoniously integrates ecology and horticulture, with a continuous visual flow across your property.

We’re looking forward to working with clients who share our love of complex and beautiful planting compositions and our vision for this direction in gardening.

Currently serving clients in: Caledon, Mono, Mulmur, Creemore, Collingwood and surrounding areas.

We begin our garden design process with a collaborative consultation visit to experience your property and chat about your goals, vision, and budget for your garden. Following our initial visit, we will create a concept for your design goals based on our conversations, including a base sketch outlining the area you would like to transform, a description of our design process, and a budget for design services. After approval for the design work, we will build a tailored design package for you, incorporating your feedback, with site visits, concept illustrations, a planting plan, and layout drawings.

For larger projects, our designer will collaborate with you, your landscape architect, and local contractors to ensure the vision and design for your garden are maintained through the construction phase.

Our Approach

Get in Touch

From the first property meeting to the final planting, we design and create gardens that connect living space with nature. We begin with a conversation to understand your vision for the space and the site’s unique character. This allows us to respond to the landscape, and develop clear concepts that strike a balance between aesthetics, atmosphere, function and sustainability.

We look forward to hearing from you.
